Description

Delicious apple cider donut holes coated in a sweet cinnamon sugar topping. Perfect for a fall treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar, for coating
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, for coating

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together apple cider and apple cider vinegar. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and 1/2 cup granulated sugar.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the apple cider mixture. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or Dutch oven over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, frying in batches.
  8. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  9. Remove donut holes with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  10. In a shallow dish, combine 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon.
  11. Toss warm donut holes in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
