- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Add diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for at least 15 minutes, or until flavors meld.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- Serve with rice, cornbread, or tortilla chips.
