- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Pour the apple mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour and brown sugar.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the chopped nuts, if using.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
