- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup chopped apples or pumpkin puree
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chopped apples or pumpkin puree.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- You can substitute other fall spices like ginger or cloves.
- Add nuts or chocolate chips for extra flavor and texture.
- Serve warm with a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
