Ingredients

- 1 bottle (750ml) dry red wine (like Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon)
- 1/2 cup brandy
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur (like Cointreau or Triple Sec)
- 1/4 cup apple cider
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 apple, thinly sliced
- 1 pear, thinly sliced
- 1 orange, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup cranberries
- 1/4 cup cinnamon sticks
- 1/4 cup star anise
- Ice
- Sparkling water or club soda (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, brandy, orange liqueur, apple cider, and orange juice.
- Add the sliced apple, pear, orange, cranberries, cinnamon sticks, and star anise to the pitcher.
- Stir well to combine all ingredients.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- Before serving, stir the sangria.
- Serve over ice. Top with a splash of sparkling water or club soda if desired.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding a little honey or maple syrup if needed.
- You can substitute other seasonal fruits like pomegranates or persimmons.
- For a non-alcoholic version, use dealcoholized red wine or grape juice.
